Pancratium (Pancratium) is a genus of plants of the Amaryllis family. Allocate from 20 to 50 species.
Habitat - tropical and subtropical regions from India to the Canary Islands.
The peduncle is high, two-ribbed, 40-60 cm high.
The flowers are unusually graceful and original, fragrant, invariably white, collected in 10 pieces in loose inflorescences. In structure, they resemble a daffodil: a wide cylindrical crown is surrounded by a ring of six long, narrow, like ribbons, and bent perianth leaves. The pistil is thin, 12-15 cm long.
When the bud opens, it bursts with a slight crack and the petals quickly, like on springs, bounce to the sides. They unfold and after 2-3 minutes the flower opens completely.
