The leader of the peasant war of 1670-1671, the Don Cossack, ataman, fought with the Crimean and Turkish feudal lords. He made a campaign with detachments of the Cossack idleness to the Volga and Yaik (1667), to Persia (1668-1669). In the spring of 1670, he led the peasant war, during which he proved himself to be an experienced organizer and military leader. He was handed over by the Cossack foreman to the tsarist government and executed in Moscow.
