Dresden. This ensemble of three palaces, surrounded by a splendid park, was the favorite resting place of the Saxon electors in the 17th and 18th centuries. Nowadays, there is a museum of folk crafts with a large collection of porcelain and antique furniture and a castle museum, the exposition of which is dedicated to the monarchs who lived there.
In summer, the Dresden Philharmonic holds a series of concerts in one of the palaces. The main "inhabitant" of Pillnitz and the brightest decoration of its park is the oldest camellia in Europe, brought to Germany in 1776. It is kept in a glass house. Its flowering time is February-April.
