Wild Flowers of Ceres, South Africa / Wild flowers of Ceres, South Africa.
During her travels, Marianne made sketches and sketches of local plants in oil. She has painted "portraits" of more than 900 plant species, and the gallery contains 833 of her stunningly colorful and distinctive works. Her paintings were a huge success not only because of their fantastic beauty, but also because 100 years ago they gave a visual representation of the unique plants and representatives of the animal world, allowing people to make scenic travel. Nowadays, many of the living organisms she depicted with such love are in danger of extinction.
In 1882, she donated all of her work and the gallery to the Kew Gardens, on the condition that the gallery would always exhibit her work.
Bright, fabulous and at the same time very calm pictures, as if frozen for a second, moments of life, looking into our ordinary world and surprising with their embodied reality.
