Finrod Felagund (Sind. Finrod Felagund) is an elf from the Noldor, the eldest son of Finarfin and Earwen of Alqualonde. Brother of Galadriel, Angrod and Aegnor, King of Nargothrond.
One of the leaders of the Noldor during the Exodus to Beleriand. After the Oath, Feanor spoke against him, nevertheless, he went to Middle-earth, despite the fact that he had a beloved (Amarië) in Valinor.
In Middle-earth, he founded the fortress of Minas Tirith on the island of Tol Sirion. Founder and King of Nargothrond. The first of the western elves to meet the Humans.
During the Fourth Battle, Belerianda (Dagor Bragollah) was rescued by Barahir and swore an oath of friendship to him and his descendants, presenting him with a ring with the heraldic image of the house of Finarfin, made by the Noldor back in Valinor. He accompanied Beren in the campaign for the Silmarill, on Tol-in-Gaurhoth entered into a magical duel with Sauron and was defeated by him. He died in the dungeons of Tol-in-Gaurhoth, saving Beren at the cost of his life, passed through the Halls of Mandos and returned to Eldamar, where he met his father Finarfin and reunited with Amarië.
