The Forbidden City is the largest palace complex in the world, located in the center of Beijing. The 24 emperors of the Chinese Ming and Qing dynasties ruled from here. The complex was built at the beginning of the 15th century, with a total area of 720 thousand m2. It is surrounded by a wall 3400 m long and 8 m high, as well as a water moat called "Golden Water" around it. The palace complex has 9999 rooms. The complex is divided into the Inner Palace and the Outer Palace.
