Finrod Felagund (Sind. Finrod Felagund) is an elf from the Noldor, the eldest son of Finarfin and Earwen of Alqualonde. Brother of Galadriel, Angrod and Aegnor, King of Nargothrond.
The name "Finrod" is a syndarized form of his name in Telerian Quenya Findaráto, roughly meaning "mighty descendant of Finwe" (the fuller sound of this name is Findaráto Ingoldo), with the inclusion of a maternal name meaning "Noldo "(Meaning" outstanding Noldo ")). In the Noldorin, Finrod's name sounded like Artafinde (sq. Artafindё). "Felagund" is an epessa given to him by the dwarves who enlarged the caves of Nargothrond, it means "cavern carver". It is no longer Sindarin, but Sindarized Khuzdul (in which the name sounds like "Felak-Gundu"). Another nickname given to Finrod was Nóm, "wisdom." This name was given to him by Beor and his followers. Finrod's other titles included "Lord of Nargothrond" and "Friend of Men."
Glorfindel (Sind. Glorfindel) is the name of an elf twice mentioned in stories about Middle-earth. He first appears in various narratives about the First Age of Middle-earth (including The Silmarillion) as the warlord of Gondolin. The Second Glorfindel is a powerful warrior-prince of Rivendell who lives in the Third Age and is described in The Lord of the Rings. In later writings, Tolkien claims that the two Glorfindel are one and the same person, although this is not evident from The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings.
This character and his name (meaning "golden-haired" in Sindarin) was one of the first to be created when Tolkien first conceived what would later become his legendarium (in 1916-17).
