Mudu
Due to the fact that the town of Mudu, as a transport hub, connects Suzhou and Lake Taihu, during the Ming and Qing dynasty, it was the busiest commercial port on the west bank of the Yangtze River. The Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty visited the region of the southern part of the Yangtze River 6 times, and in his travels he stopped each time in the town of Mudu. Here the emperor with his teacher - writer - Shen Dejian and friend Xu Shiyuan wrote poetry and played Chinese chess.
