The accession to the throne of Louis XVI was marked by two things: an unprecedented increase in the national debt of France and the emergence of a new hairstyle "Queen's Flowers", decorated with ears of corn and cornucopia. This was the beginning of the hairdressing madness.
It seemed that with such a hairstyle the hat was simply impossible, for it was in conflict with the theory of universal gravitation, but the practice of the courtiers adequately refuted the pitiful laws of physics.
The hat, like a multi-layered cake, was stuffed with a well-thought-out filling: the “duke” was laid in the base, then “the capuchin” followed, the “cat” was located higher, then, of course, the “mouse”, then the “pipe”, “the first heaven”, "Second" and so on up to "ninth".
In Russia at the end of the 18th century, "admiral's hats" - ships with gear, cannons and batteries, "puff hats" with banners and timpani laid out in front, "Minervins shishaki" and "caps of victory" left no doubt about the patriotism of Russian ladies.
