Strasbourg

Strasbourg is the capital of Alsace, a historical and cultural region of France, famous all over the world for the quality of its wines and its famous cuisine. Strasbourg, the "capital of the united Europe", is a stunningly beautiful and well-preserved old city. The historic center of Strasbourg is located on an island formed by the Ile River, which flows into the Rhine.
The city of Strasbourg, known in the history of the Roman times as the Argentoratum, was chosen by the Roman soldiers for their military camp. Later, the favorable geographical position at the intersection of trade routes was reflected in its new name - Strateburgum, which means "city of roads".
