The Belvedere in Vienna is a palace and park ensemble created in the 18th-19th centuries by the famous architect Hildebrandt. It includes a large palace (Upper Belvedere) and a small one (Lower Belvedere). Both buildings were erected in the Baroque style and are united by a regular park, which contains a large collection of alpine plants. The Upper Belvedere now houses the Austrian Gallery, which displays paintings by famous national artists. This building is also famous for the signing of the Austrian Declaration of Independence.
