The green woodpecker is a bird of the woodpecker family. He prefers forests with sunny meadows overgrown with grass. This is an unusually voracious bird. His favorite delicacy is ants, which he eats in large quantities. The green woodpecker flies among the trees in search of anthills. He finds an anthill, flies up to it, digs a hole about eight centimeters deep and waits. The woodpecker simply licks the ants that come out of the hole with its long sticky tongue. If he finds a large anthill, he often spends a long time nearby, feasting on ants, and comes back here again and again. And although ants are the favorite food of green woodpeckers, they do not disdain other insects.
