Hickstead is a modern show jumping legend. They say that he jumped as if springs were hidden in his hooves, while passing the routes at great speed. Together with his rider, Eric Lamaze, he won the 2008 Olympics in the individual event, became the Beijing Olympics champion and bronze medalist at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
“The horse, which is one in a million,” - that's what they said about him. Alas, his brilliant career was tragically interrupted in November 2011: during the next stage of the Show jumping World Cup in Verona, the horse suddenly died of a heart attack - his heart could not stand it.
