Anger is a negatively colored affect directed against an experienced injustice, and accompanied by a desire to eliminate it.
In Christianity, anger is understood as "a strong, agitated state of mind against one's neighbor", the sinfulness or sinlessness of which depends on its causes, purpose and degree. It is believed that the anger of godly people represents their extreme disgust and resentment against sin, is sinless and not alien even to God. At the same time, anger against a neighbor, especially prolonged, is considered sinful, capable of developing into anger and a desire for revenge. Sinful anger in Orthodoxy is one of the eight sinful passions, in Catholicism it is also considered one of the seven deadly sins.
