Egeskov is a castle on the island of Funen, a Northern Renaissance monument, built in 1554. The land surrounding the castle has an area of about 2.5 km². According to legend, a whole oak forest had to be cut down to build the castle, hence the name "Egeskov" - "oak forest". Currently, the castle is a museum.
