Great spotted woodpecker, or spotted woodpecker, is a fairly large bird and one of the most famous representatives of the woodpecker family. It inhabits a wide variety of forest landscapes from the Canary Islands and northwestern Africa to the east to Kamchatka and Japan, and is a common, numerous species almost everywhere. Often settles within settlements - in old gardens, parks, cemeteries. As a rule, it leads a sedentary lifestyle and only on the northern periphery of the range in unfavorable years in terms of food does it make massive migrations-invasions to neighboring regions.
