Maslenitsa week consists of two parts - Narrow and Wide Maslenitsa, each day of Maslenitsa week has its own name and its own celebration customs. In the first three days - "Narrow Maslenitsa" - the peasants were still engaged in household work, and from Thursday they were forbidden to work, the "Wide Maslenitsa" began.

Pancakes are the main dish of Shrovetide Week. For our ancestors, the pancake was a symbol of the sun - round, golden, ruddy and hot. And on the vernal equinox, pancakes were baked in honor of the deity who gave light, warmth and life.
