"Portrait of Emperor Rudolph II as Vertumnus" (1590). This is one of the few surviving works of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who made portraits of fruits, vegetables, flowers, crustaceans, fish, pearls, musical and other instruments, books and so on. "Vertumnus" is a portrait of the emperor, represented as the ancient Roman god of the seasons, vegetation and transformation. In the painting, Rudolph consists entirely of fruits, flowers and vegetables.
