The Gothic Konopiste castle in the French style is perhaps the most beautiful of all castles located in Central Bohemia. It was built in the XIV century and has retained the features of a real Gothic castle to this day. This castle is located about 45 km from Prague. At the end of the 19th century, this castle passed into the possession of Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, who slightly renovated Konopiste and laid out a beautiful garden with roses and an English park nearby.
Konopiste Castle houses a unique collection of weapons and hunting trophies, which is considered one of the largest on the European continent. During the tourist season, peacocks walk in front of the castle, hawks, falcons circle, and bears can be seen in the castle moat.
