One of the main attractions in Russia is the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed, located on Red Square in Moscow. It was built by order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible in 1555-1561 in honor of the victory over the Kazan Khanate. According to legend, after the completion of the construction of the cathedral, Ivan the Terrible ordered his architects to be blinded so that they would never again be able to build anything as beautiful.
