The art of Russian lacquer miniature has absorbed the experience of many generations of miniaturists. Valentina Smolenskaya occupies a prominent place among contemporary artists working in the traditional technique of three-layer lacquer miniature.
After graduating from the Moscow Institute of Technology, specializing in Lacquer Miniature Painting, she worked for a long time in the Moscow region at the Fedoskino Factory of Miniature Painting.
Her works can be seen in the funds and expositions of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, in the Museum of the Fedoskino Factory, private collections in the USA, England, Norway and other countries. Things that are small in form and larger, all of them are meticulously executed, carry in themselves a whole world of amazing original art that deserves a careful and long acquaintance, unhurried admiration.
