Christmas Island Territory is an Autonomous Territory of Australia in the Indian Ocean.
State flag, introduced in 1987. Its proportions are 1: 2.
Yellow and green are the state colors of Australia, and the stars of the Southern Cross constellation symbolize the island's connection with Australia. Blue stands for the Indian Ocean, green stands for tropical rainforest, and the bird stands for the "golden boatswain," the characteristic inhabitant of the island. The island is graphically shown on a yellow disc in the center of the flag.
