Goddess Lakshmi

Lakshmi, Shri ("good sign", "happiness", "beauty") is shown sitting on a lotus, symbolizing motherhood and spiritual purity. The goddess herself is associated with wealth, a happy fate and immortality. It is said about her that she, along with many other precious objects, emerged from the ocean of milk, when the gods churned it to get ambrosia, and in this regard, she can be recognized as a Hindu copy of the ancient goddess of beauty Venus-Aphrodite. For its exceptional beauty, Lakshmi is also called Padma (lotus). When she appeared on the surface of the sea, her brilliant beauty immediately captivated all the gods, and Shiva asked for her hand. But he had already managed to take for himself the moon, which also emerged from the sea, and therefore Vishnu declared the rights of Lakshmi. The goddess herself preferred Vishnu, and Shiva, according to some stories, drank poison in despair, which, however, Parvati's intervention did not allow him to reach his insides.
