The Church of Madonna del Sasso is one of the main attractions of the Swiss city of Locarno, which is located in the Italian part of the country in the canton of Ticino. The church rises above Locarno on a steep mountainside. It was built on the place where, according to legend, in August 1480 the Holy Virgin Mary appeared to the monk Bartolomeo d'Ivrea. One of the most beautiful places in Locarno, with a beautiful view of the city and Lake Maggiore.
