Hong Kong.
Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. A former British colony in Southeast Asia.
The region's flag was officially raised on July 1, 1997. The proportions of the flag are 2: 3.
The Stylized Flag of Hong Kong, or the Regional Flag of the People's Republic of China Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, is a rectangular red cloth. In the center there is a stylized image of a Bauhinia flower, white, with five petals bent clockwise. Each petal depicts a red star, from which a red curved line extends to the center, which, together with the star, resembles the stamen of a flower. The orchid flower represents the people of Hong Kong. The juxtaposition of red and white on the flag symbolizes "one country, two systems" - a political principle applied to Hong Kong.
