According to historians and scientists, the ancestors of modern hats have been known since the days of Ancient Egypt. The ancient Egyptians wore ordinary hats made from straw. As for the ancient Greeks, this people preferred to cover their heads only during long travels. In fact, it was the ancient Greek tradition that gave rise to the two most common headdresses today. The first of them is a hat, and the second is a hat, that is, a headdress that wraps around the head and looks like a cap devoid of brims.
Of course, making hats is a much more laborious and technologically complex process than knitting a shawl. During the times of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece, hats were worn exclusively by representatives of the noble classes. During the Middle Ages, hats were decorated with furs, ribbons, plumes and precious stones. In the period from the beginning of the seventeenth to the end of the eighteenth century, turbans were especially popular, which today have completely lost their former glory.
The French Revolution gave the world Phrygian caps, which were decorated with ribbons and tricolor cockades. In addition to caps, people in those days already wore top hats, bowlers, castor hats and boaters. Cocked hats, berets and felt hats were especially popular. The latter retain their leading positions even today.
The history of the hat is the history of the world and the history of all mankind. In hats there was always a place for the reflection of one's own self. This is probably why the headgear that retains its shape remains loved and in demand in our time.
