Alatyr - stone

The Slavs revered stones, especially large boulders. The places where the boulders lay were considered sacred, people came to the stones to heal diseases. Alatyr is the largest stone in the world, as they said, "the father of all stones." This wonderful stone rests in the very center of the world, in the middle of the sea-ocean, on the island of Buyan. There is a world tree on it, from under it all healing
rivers. According to legend, the Alatyr-stone fell from the sky, and the laws of the god Svarog are carved on it. In epics about heroes, all the heroes' exploits often begin with this stone. The heroes come to a huge boulder, which lies at a crossroads, and choose one of three roads, usually it is written on it which road will lead where.
