Photographer Bill Gekas of the Australian city of Melbourne has created photographs that mimic 17th century Dutch, Flemish and Italian masters such as Rembrandt, Rubens and Caravaggio. The author resorted to manipulating light and shadow to create the effect of a masterpiece of the Baroque era. His 5-year-old daughter Athena brilliantly coped with the difficult job of a model. Athena has so harmoniously blended into the Renaissance chiaroscuro that it seems as if she is really a girl from the 17th century. Photography in the style of Vermeer's painting
