German race car driver of Uruguayan origin, born on January 11, 1983 in Grafelfing. Before giving his son to take up motorsport, his parents forced Adrian to learn to play the piano at a professional level, which he still does well.
Sutil speaks English, German, Spanish and (to a small extent) Italian.
Sutil started karting at the age of 14. Not having achieved much success, however, during this time he gains enough confidence in his abilities to test himself in the races of the lower formula classes: in 2002 he starts in the Austrian Formula Masters and the Swiss Formula Ford 1800.
The once established relationship with Colin Kolles allows him to come to Formula 1 in 2006: first, Adrian becomes one of the many test pilots of his team, and in 2007 he gets the opportunity to become a combat pilot. Adrian's debut in Formula 1 took place in Australia in 2007.
In 2007, on the familiar Fuji race track in Japan, Adrian finished in the points zone for the first time, taking advantage of numerous competitors' mistakes on the wet track. A year later, the German again flashed in the rain, getting out shortly before the finish to fourth place in the Monaco Grand Prix, but the mistake of Kimi Raikkonen, who was walking directly behind him, led to a collision and a German descent. In 2009, Sutil shone more and more often in wet conditions, and by the second half of the season he was able from time to time to fight for getting into qualifications in the final segment and confidently fight in the points group in the race. In Belgium, Sutil flashed, qualifying second and finishing the race in fourth.
In 2010, progress continued: Adrian steadily qualified at the beginning of the second ten, and more and more often gained points in races. Nine finishes in the Top10 at once allow him to take eleventh place in the individual standings. A year later, Sutil repeatedly made his way even to the decisive qualification segment, and in the races he consistently finished in the Top10, gaining, as a result, the ninth total points in the individual competition.
At the end of the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix, Sutil celebrated the end of the race in one of the Shanghai nightclubs, where other Formula 1 representatives were present. An incident occurred between Sutil and the co-owner of the Lotus-Renault team, during which Sutil cut his neck with a shard of champagne. Lux has filed an attempted murder lawsuit against Sutil in five countries. On January 31, 2012, Sutil was sentenced to 18 months of probation in prison, as well as a fine. Another consequence of the lawsuit was the refusal of the Force India F1 team to conclude a pilot contract with Adrian for the 2012 season. Due to litigation with Eric Lux, it is not possible to find a place in the peloton for the 2012 season, but in 2013 he returns to Force India again. F1 and in the debut Grand Prix proves that for the missed year his speed has not disappeared anywhere: thanks to successful tactics at the Australian Grand Prix, he fights in the leading group for most of the race, leads the peloton for several laps, but due to problems with tires he finishes only seventh. In the future, it was not possible to keep this pace. As a result, in 19 races of the season, Sutil scored only 29 points and took thirteenth place in the individual standings. The best race of the season after Australia was the Monaco Grand Prix in May, where the German finished fifth.
During his career, he has so far participated in 109 Grand Prix.
