Isis · in Egyptian mythology, the goddess of fertility, water and wind, a symbol of femininity, family fidelity, the goddess of navigation. The cult of Isis enjoyed wide popularity in Egypt and far beyond its borders, especially since the time of Hellenism. In the Greco-Roman world, she was called "the one with a thousand names." Isis is the daughter of Geb and Nut, sister of Osiris (and his wife), Nephthys, Seta, mother Horus. The main narratives about Isis are closely intertwined with the myth of Osiris. In myths, Isis usually acts as a faithful and devoted spouse. After the murder of Osiris by Set, she, having found the body of her husband, buried him and, conceiving from the dead Osiris, gave birth to the son of Horus, who was to take revenge on Set. The myths describe in detail the life of Isis in the swamps of the Nile Delta, where she, fleeing the persecution of Set, raised her son Horus.
