Joan Miró i Ferrà (1893-1983) is a Spanish artist of the abstract and surrealist movement in 20th century painting. The artist's works are like rambling children's drawings and contain figures that are vaguely similar to real objects. Using reality as a starting point, Juan Miro strove in his works to reflect the creativity of our subconscious, freeing it from the control of reason and logic. The artist believed that his contemporary art, having passed through all the frames of styles and trends, found true freedom when he put the "inner vibrations of the creative soul" at the forefront.
The murals created by Miro in 1955 by order of the UN ("Solar Wall" and "Moon Wall") were awarded the Guggenheim Foundation, and in the 1970s the artist opened the Miro Foundation in Barcelona and Mallorca.
