This cute little thing in the 20s of the 20th century literally covered women with their heads. This is the famous bell hat. Movie stars, flapper girls, literally everyone put on this headdress.
The famous hat-maker of that time Carolina Rebu- (1837-1927) should be thanked for this. In 1865, she opened a fashion store in Paris at 9 avenue Matignon and worked there all her life; for 50 years she was the queen of creative hats.
Cloche hats were usually made of felt, worn low over the forehead. Often, different types of ribbons attached to the hats were a kind of "information carrier" about the wearer. For example, a ribbon in the form of an arrow meant that the girl was not married, but her heart was not free. A tightly tied knot meant that there was a married lady in front of you, and a lush bow brightly signaled that the owner of the hat was not married and was interested in dating.
