Sofia Sergeevna Trubetskaya (1838, Moscow, - July 27, 1898, Madrid, Spain), Countess de Morny, Russian noblewoman, alleged daughter of Nicholas I.
Sophia was born in 1838 in the family of Sergei Vasilyevich Trubetskoy and Ekaterina Petrovna Musina-Pushkina, the favorite of Nicholas I. It is generally believed that the emperor forcibly married him to his mistress, who was at that time at a fairly long period of pregnancy.
Soon after the birth of Sophia, the couple parted - Sergei Vasilyevich went to the Caucasus, and Ekaterina Petrovna went abroad.
In 1856, Sophia met in St. Petersburg with the French ambassador, Duke Charles de Morny, half-brother of Napoleon III, and on December 26, 1856 she married him. In 1857 she left with her husband for Paris. The marriage was successful, Sophia became one of the first beauties of Paris.
