Demerdzhi-yayla (Crimean Tat. Demirci yayla) is a mountain range (yayla) of the Main ridge of the Crimean Mountains in the Alushta region of Crimea. Unlike other Crimean yayls, Demerdzhi is not only composed of limestone, but also has numerous intersperses of pebbles and boulders of hard rocks, captured by limestone "cement". Water seeps from the surface into the depths of the rock, reacts with carbon dioxide in the soil, and acquires the properties of a weak acid that corrodes the rock. Under the influence of such water and weathering, limestone collapses, leaving "sculptures" of the hardest rocks. These are "fingers" - columns, "mushrooms" - columns with "lids" and much more. The largest of them is five meters wide and almost 25 meters high.
The most famous place of their congestion is "Valley of Ghosts". When clouds crawl across Demerdzhi, from time to time, mysterious silhouettes open up to the eye, which disappear in moments.
