Alstroemeria (Alstroemeria) - Inca lily or Peruvian lily, came to us from South America. The genus Alstroemeria was named by Karl Linnaeus in honor of his student Baron Klas Alströmer (1736-1794), a Swedish botanist, industrialist and philanthropist. Alstroemer brought Linnaeus seed samples of two types of alstroemeria from Spain, where the plant was already being grown at that time.
