In the winter of 1892, Serov worked on a portrait of the famous Moscow beauty Zinaida Vasilievna Yakunchikova (married to Moritz). Rabta was highly appreciated by contemporaries, and Serov's reputation as a master of secular portrait, the first, after Repin, a Russian portraitist, was finally strengthened.
