Alexander Volkov is a native of St. Petersburg. In 1981 he began showing his paintings with a group of 200 artists from Leningrad known as the "Brotherhood of Experimental Art". Later he joined a split-off group called "The Island", which included 30 artists. Saturation - no riot, no delight.
The languid mature sheet is full of carved.
An open window is a sash of hope.
And the summer is so ripe
That will soon burst with a mad thunderstorm.

I hide my eyes from the sun behind glasses
And the dark surface of the glass
Protected from someone else's comments
To my soul, in the part that eyes
I could unwittingly betray myself.

Summer self-righteousness in abundance,
And hot rays - all straight.
I'm waiting for the rain - work on the bug,
I want to get wet to a thread
To coincide with July for just a moment.

But the clouds seem to rush past
And again the rain passes by ...
Our city is obviously unlucky
For a week the sun is tormenting
Not a bit counts with me ...
