This painting of Olga Alexandrovna (1882 -1960), the Grand Duchess of the Romanovs' house, shows the situation in which she lived in exile. The younger sister of Nicholas II, she is one of the few members of the Imperial family who survived the Bolshevik coup; lived in Denmark, then Canada. Like her father, she preferred a simple life. During her life, she painted more than 2,000 paintings, the proceeds from the sale of which allowed her to support her family and do charity work.
