Posted by Joey Richardson. Joey grew up on a small farm in England, where her love of nature, flora and fauna developed from an early age. Soon her passion for processing and wood carving turned into a profession. And in 2005 she was enrolled in the register of wood turners and awarded a scholarship in London. This scholarship allowed her to study in America, where woodwork is prized as collectible art. Joy studied traditional woodworking technologies with passion, and also added new, innovative ones. She developed her own philosophical view of work, turning craft into art.
In 2008, Joy was selected to participate in her first major exhibition of decorative wood turning in the UK. Wood carving is one of the oldest and most traditional crafts in the UK that Joy is trying to preserve and continue. She teaches and conducts master classes around the world. Her work can be seen in exhibitions and museums in the UK, as well as in famous galleries.
