Poshupovsky monastery

St. John the Theologian Monastery is a men's monastery of the Ryazan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, located on the right bank of the Oka, in the village of Poshupovo. It is believed that the monastery arose at the end of the 12th or early 13th century and was founded by Greek missionary monks who brought with them the miraculous icon of the Apostle John, written in the 6th century in Byzantium as an orphan boy. This image became the main shrine of the Theological Monastery.
