Dutch bouquet

At first glance, Dutch bouquets seem to be painted from life, but upon closer look it becomes obvious that they are composed of plants that bloom at different times.
Floral arrangements were not easy to interpret: the same flower had many meanings, sometimes directly opposite. Here are just a few of them:
The symbols of frailty are withered and broken flowers, crumbling petals, a still withered flower - a hint of the disappearance of feelings.
A crawling snail is the personification of the mortal sin of laziness.
A snail is also a symbol of resurrection - in its shell it can survive both cold and heat.
Red poppy is an allegory of sleep, oblivion.
Lilies of the valley, violets, forget-me-nots surrounded by roses, carnations, anemones are symbols of modesty and purity.
The blue iris represents the forgiveness of sins and indicates the possibility of salvation through virtue.
Tulips, symbolizing fading beauty and senseless waste (sometimes a house was laid for the bulb of a rare tulip in the 17th century)
A butterfly sitting on a stem represents an immortal soul.
In the Middle Ages, dragonflies were classified as ordinary flies, and their image carried a negative meaning - they personified the devilish principle.
The butterfly and the dragonfly symbolized the eternal struggle between good and evil.
And one more observation: the surrealist could not just depict just a flower - pay attention to the tulip / parrot in the upper right corner and a certain sharp-billed bird in the upper left.
