Annona scaly or sugar apple is a semi-deciduous fruit tree or shrub widespread in the tropics, belonging to the Annonov family.
The large yellow flowers of Annona have a sweet pleasant smell and grow along the branches and trunk.
Irregularly shaped thorny fruits grow from 10 to 30 cm in length, weighing 1-3 kg. The "sugar apple" hides creamy, fragrant pulp and black seeds under its skin. The fruit tastes sweet, reminiscent of pineapple and strawberry at the same time.
