The Meyerhold House in Penza was opened as a museum on February 24, 1984 and became the first memorial to the world famous theatrical figure not only in Russia but also abroad. The Meyerhold family lived in this house until 1898. The opening of the memorial (then the "Theater Museum") coincided with a significant date - 110 years since the birth of the director (1874).
