The palace complex of the Oldenburgskys in Ramon is an integral landscape and architectural monument, the only palace complex in the Central Black Earth region, the owners of which were related to the Imperial family.
In 1878, Her Imperial Highness Princess Eugenia Maximilianovna Romanova (married to Princess of Oldenburg) bought an estate in the village of Ramon, Voronezh province. In 1883, the construction of the castle for the couple began. In three years, one meter thick walls were erected, and by 1887 the interior decoration was completed.
The palace was built in the "Old English" style. Opposite the manor house there is a gate with a tower and a clock built into it by the Swiss company "Winter", called the "suite building", since there was a retinue that accompanied the noble people who visited the estate.
The princess was engaged in equipping life in the village. In particular, she built the first candy factory in Russia with the use of steam engines, which was named "Steam factory of sweets and chocolate" and later became the progenitor of the Voronezh confectionery factory. The factory's products were internationally recognized, winning a large number of awards at various world exhibitions.
