Small State of San Marino

One of the smallest states in the world is San Marino, just 61 square kilometers. The country was founded in 301 AD by the Christian saint Marino and named after him San Marino. The population is 32,075 people, it is surrounded on all sides by the territory of Italy. Despite its tiny size, San Marino is very popular with tourists from different countries. The small country owes this increased attention to a large amount of well-preserved medieval architecture.
