Diatrim

Diatrima is a fossil bird from the Eocene of North America and Europe. A running bird (height about 2.5 m), resembling an ostrich. The wings are reduced, the legs are strong, four-toed; the neck is relatively short, the head is large, the beak is large and massive. Was a terrible enemy of ancient mammals.
