The sisters were born into the family of the godson of Empress Catherine II - Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, a general, an outstanding Georgian poet and public figure and his wife Princess Salome Ivanovna Orbeliani, great-granddaughter of Tsar Irakli II. The older sister Nina Alexandrovna was married to Alexander Sergeevich Griboedov. David Dadiani (at that time - the heir to the ruler of Megrelia Levan V). In 1853, her husband died, and Ekaterina Alexandrovna took up state affairs, becoming "a historical person." Emperor Nicholas I recognized her as the ruler of Megrelia with a young son. The outstanding Georgian poet Nikoloz Baratashvili, who was unrequitedly in love with her, dedicated his work to Catherine Alexandrovna. The poems dedicated to her are brilliant examples of love lyrics. M. Yu. Lermontov dedicated two of his poems to her.
Nikoloz Baratashvili "Blue Color", classical translation by B. Pasternak.
Color heavenly, blue
I fell in love from an early age.
As a child, he meant to me
The blue of other beginnings.
And now that has reached
I am the pinnacle of my days
Sacrifice the rest of the flowers
I won't give up blue
He is beautiful without embellishment -
This is the color of your beloved eyes
This is your bottomless look,
Scorched blue.
This is the color of my dreams
It is a paint of height.
Into this blue solution
The earthly expanse is immersed
It's an easy transition
Into the unknown from worries
And from crying relatives
At your funeral.
It's blue thin
Frost over my stove
It's a gray winter smoke
Hazes over my name.
And now that has reached
I am the pinnacle of my days
Sacrifice the rest of the flowers
I won't give up the blue.
