Aristocrat and robber at the same time. As the daughter of a pirate (Philip Wolversten of Sophocles), she went on raids with her father as a child. Later, she successfully married the governor of two fortresses and, secretly from her husband, she herself led attacks on ships. While there were no survivors left, there was no one to reveal her "double life".
The end of the atrocities was put by a miraculous surviving captain of a Spanish ship, who managed to pretend to be dead and leave the ship alive. Ten years after the arrest of Mary Killigrew, pirates reappeared in the English Channel - led by Lady Elizabeth Killigrew, wife and later widow of Sir John (the son of Lady Mary) and, accordingly, Lady Killigrew senior's daughter-in-law.
