Pico de gallo (Spanish pico de gallo - literally "rooster's beak", there is also an outdated transcription of pico de gallo) - a fresh Mexican sauce made from chopped tomatoes, white onions and hot chili peppers.
This salsa sauce may contain other ingredients such as limes, lemons, avocados, cucumber and radishes.
In some regions of Mexico, pico de gallo means a vegetable salad with limetta juice and salted chili powder, while salsa is understood there as “Salsa picada” or “Salsa Mexicana” because it contains the colors of the Mexican flag - red (tomatoes) , white (onion) and green (chili).
