Our progenitor, Mrs. Umai ”- the Turks called their main goddess, whose name means“ swan ”. In the form of a bird, she could fly in the sky, walk on land and swim on water. The Turks believed that Umai took part in the creation of the world. In ancient times, when there was nothing but the Great Ocean, the Umai-swan dived deeply and dived from the bottom of the earth, from which mountains, rivers, plants and animals grew. They say that it was the swan who laid the egg from which this world hatched.
Umai is a magic bird, whose shadow swept over the chosen ones of fate and brought them good luck and glory. Therefore, the Turks never killed swans. Beneficent Umai was Tengri's wife. Together they patronized the Turkic ale. Tengri personified infinity, and Umai - a finite earthly existence, consisting of birth, marriage and death.
The goddess was represented as a beautiful woman who descended from the Upper World on golden wings in order to help people. She patronized children and their mothers, was the goddess of fertility. Umai emitted divine light, the rays of which penetrated people and lived in them until his death. These sparks kept a person alive. The spark of light was that divine power that connected him with the sky and was sent by Heaven for his greatness. If the spark went out, then the person was dying.
